If not properly cared for, it may cause problems with the knee joints in the long term.<\/p>\n\n<p>Causes of knee injuries in sports&#13;\n\u2022 Sudden twisting or rotation of the knee while playing sports such as football, basketball, tennis&#13;\n\u2022 Direct impact to the knee from falling or colliding while playing&#13;\n\u2022 Overuse such as long-distance running without warming up or stretching&#13;\n\u2022 Weak muscles around the knee causing the knee to lack good support&#13;\n\u2022 Inappropriate shoes\/equipment or slippery surfaces causing loss of balance<\/p>\n\n<p>Common knee injuries&#13;\n1. ACL tear: Common in sports that require sudden stops or rapid changes of direction.&#13;\nSymptoms: Sudden pain, knee swelling, unsteady walking.&#13;\n&#13;\n2. Meniscus tear: Caused by vigorous knee rotation or excessive knee twisting.&#13;\nSymptoms: Pain in the inner\/outer knee, a \u201cclicking\u201d sound, or the knee locks and cannot bend.&#13;\n&#13;\n3. MCL\/LCL sprain: Twisting the knee to the side or hitting it from the side.&#13;\nSymptoms: Pain in the inner or outer knee, loose knee, unstable.&#13;\n&#13;\n4. Patellar dislocation: The patellar dislocation, especially from impact.&#13;\nSymptoms: Pain, swelling, feeling like the patella is out of place.&#13;\n&#13;\n5.
