Description

Pre-employment health screenings for men generally focus on assessing basic health and job readiness, which are often similar to those for women. However, no specific gynecological examinations are included. Commonly found tests include:

Basic Health Screening

Most companies require these tests:

  • Physical Examination (PE)

– A general physical examination by a physician (Physical Examination)
– A medical history and illness history are taken.
– Height, weight, and body mass index (BMI) are measured.
– Blood pressure and pulse rate are measured.
– A basic neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular examination is performed.

  • A chest X-ray (CXR) is used to assess lung health (tuberculosis screening) and heart size.
  • A complete blood count (CBC) is used to screen for anemia, white blood cell, and platelet abnormalities.
  • A urinalysis (UA) is used to screen for diabetes, kidney disease, or urinary tract infections.
  • A urine drug test is commonly used to detect amphetamines and methamphetamines. (Methamphetamine)
  • Vision and Color Blindness Test

Additional tests may be required (depending on the type of job)

If the job involves specific risks or the company requires more in-depth health information, these additional tests may be required:

  • Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) to screen for diabetes (fasting for 8-10 hours)
  • Lipid Test (Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL, LDL) to assess cardiovascular risk (fasting for 8-10 hours)
  • Liver Function Test (LFTs) to assess exposure to certain chemicals or medications
  • Kidney Function Test (KFTs)

Preparation Recommendations

1. Get adequate rest. Sleep at least 6-8 hours before the test to ensure blood pressure and pulse are within normal limits.
2. Abstain from food and drink. If blood tests, such as sugar and lipid tests, are required, all food and drink (except water) must be fasted for 8-10 hours before the test.
3. Provide information about medications/health. Inform your doctor about any medications, supplements, or herbs you are taking, as well as your medical history.
4. Check your company’s requirements. Most importantly, check the required health screenings, as each company has different requirements.
